Did you know that we generally become ill and form deficiencies because we cook out the vitamins and nutrients out of our food? People also develop a zinc deficiency from cooking out these vitamins and nutrients and loose their ability to taste the natural flavors over time! This is crazy!!!! I don’t want to loose my ability to taste so many decadent foods that have been grown on this earth!!!
Good sources of zinc: poppy seeds, pumpkin seeds, and pecans…. Not cooked of course
(An easier way to digest them would be by soaking them!)
Alright, back to cooking….
When we cook foods at high temperatures or fry them in oils, the vitamins are pretty much destroyed! A lot of vitamins are fat-soluble and others literally are destroyed at high temperatures!
David Wolfe’s book has been changing my life and it has been helping me embrace foods more for flavor and their natural nutrition.
Here are a couple things to keep in mind when eating and foods paired with vitamins….
Vitamin A deficiencies cause acne and skin disorders ( vitamin A is also fat-soluble)
Arugula, spinach, broccoli, and carrots are awesome sources of vitamin A uncooked
Vitamin E is a vitamin in olive oil, but is destroyed when cooked! Vitamin E deficiencies cause indigestion and heart disease!
So, embrace foods in their natural state! Or try this!
Today I decided that I wanted a warm Kale salad without cooking out the nutrients! I don’t have a dehydrator, so I drizzled olive oil on some and almond oil on another portion for two different meal options to taste. I drizzled them with sea salt and placed them in the oven on the lowest setting for about 15 minutes to warm the kale. I then juiced white grapes to drizzle on top of the kale for a slight sweetness on my warm kale salad.
Benefits:
White grapes- vitamin C with and iron along with antioxidants
Kale- iron, fiber, calcium, Vitamins A, B-6, C, E and K
Olive oil- Vitamin E
Almond oil- Vitamin E
Try adding your favorite fruits and veggies to make it to your liking!

Hey y’all! I decided to make this blog not only about performing, but about life. I want to talk about my discoveries in diet, nutrition, exercise, beauty products, and overall health. A huge part of performing is being aware of your body and knowing how foods can make you feel. I want to share my discoveries along with recipes, reviews, and fun facts!
You may not know this about me, but i made the choice of becoming vegetarian about 3 1/2 yrs ago. I was continuously trying diets and went through fads of excessively exercising. I was a huge carnivore before too! I was lacking energy and had severe asthma. I had asthma attacks about once a week and i always had some sort of cold or chronic bronchitus. Who wants to live like that?! Not me.
I decided to try becoming vegetarian and see how it effects me. I had so much more energy! I barrly ever get sick and have maybe one asthma attack a year! Insane! I decided that vegetarian was the way to be! Why eat meat if my health is a million times better?
One of the most difficult issues with becoming vegetarian is finding proper balance and not just consuming fatty foods or tons of meat substitutes. You don’t need a meat substitute! Explore fruits and vegetables! Find new flavors with herbs you never tried before! It can be fun and it’s something i am suuuuuper passionate about.
I would love to hear your stories about becoming vegetarian and how it makes you feel! And for anyone who isn’t veg…. I challenge you to be vegetarian for a day and see how you feel! I would love to know how you feel throughout the day with each pairing of food!
Recording session with David Malachowski!
I’ve never been so excited about my music than I am now. He is a brilliant guitarist and I am so thankful to have him on my EP. I’m looking forward to future projects with him as well!
Blue is my color of peace….
Life is ironic, isn’t it?
I wish this world would open their hearts and Embrace what the world has to give. Let’s dream together….
“Cause in every given moment there’s a moment to spare
And when I close my eyes there is love in the air
I live through dreams worth living
And you ask “How can I dream when the world isn’t giving?”
Don’t dwell upon the past
L-Let yourself fall in love in hopes that it will last
‘Cause if you walk… don’t give all of your heart,
You’ll have no reason to cry when it falls apart.
My dreams won’t take mother nature for granted
And all of mankind won’t take over this planet.
I see through rose colored glasses
And my eyes, they’re… they’re Blissfully Blue
And I can see right through the masses…
Of Pain.
I envision the rain.”
I’ve realized as an artist that we’re going to work, perform, and write with thousands of different individuals and you DON’T HAVE TO continue working with them forever. It’s a time in your life where you come together as people and connect musically, but just like any other relationship…it can come to an end. There will be new beginnings and plenty of people in this business to make connections with.
I’ve also realized that in this business you shouldn’t even trust your friends when you work with them. It’s the story that happens over and over again and as I talk to other musicians…well, they laughed and just said this happens to EVERYONE. I do believe things happen for a reason and we all grow and move on.
The music and lyrics that I have written and co-written in the past year were written for a reason, but music is a relationship AND a business. To other songwriters…always talk about the business part of it and do your research. We all love writing and jamming, but we all need to learn what our rights are in every aspect of this career. We need to keep track of everything we do and with everyone we work with. Always find the fun in it and if you don’t love it anymore….it’s time to move on. I get that this is general, but it’s better to be that way.
Everything that I’ve been through lately has caused me to start writing a song called “One White Horse” consisting of comparisons such as “a bird when it migrates towards the sea when it senses coldness in your eyes” and stating that “I want to be the one white horse running through the fields of green.” This song is meant to represent heartache, but in a way where it lets you know that it’s time to move on. It is a song that can give a listener something to look forward to and know that relationships end, but life doesn’t have to. We all need to look for love in life and every reason to smile.
I have a pattern of writing and that pattern is a message to Embrace Love and Life.
Remember…Every note tells a story…
